The vast majority of jobs are real, but scammers also use job ads to deceive people looking for work. A few simple precautions protect you.

Legitimate companies never charge you

No legitimate company charges you to take part in a hiring process. Be suspicious of any request for payment, such as:

  • a registration or application fee;
  • a mandatory paid course, training or certification;
  • a paid medical exam for the company itself;
  • a uniform, badge or work "kit";
  • any deposit to "secure the job".

Warning signs

  • Requests for payments, documents, photos of documents or codes received by text message, through messaging apps.
  • A salary far above normal for the role, with no experience required.
  • An interview in an odd place, such as a private home or a hotel room.
  • Pressure to decide on the spot or to keep it secret.
  • Contact from a personal email or profile with no clear link to the company.
  • A promise of guaranteed hiring before any interview.

What never to do

  • Do not pay anything.
  • Do not share passwords or verification codes: with them, someone can take over your accounts.
  • Do not send photos of your documents before you are sure the company exists and the job is real.
  • Do not install apps someone asks you to install by message.

How to report

Found a suspicious job on Joonow? Use “Report this job” at the end of the job page, or write to us through Contact us with the job link and what happened. We review reports and take suspicious jobs down.

If you have already paid or sent your details, contact your bank as soon as possible to ask for the money back and file a police report.

When we take a job down as a scam, we email everyone who applied to it or saved it.

Joonow only contacts you through its official channels.
