Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. The browser also has other places to store data (such as localStorage), which the laws of several countries treat like cookies. This page explains everything Joonow and the ads store on your device.

Joonow uses as little as possible. Joonow's own cookies serve only what you asked for (language, sign-in, security). The only third-party cookies are those of Google ads, on pages with ads and according to your choice. We do not use social media pixels.

Joonow's cookies

Cookie What for When it appears Duration
jn_lang remembers the language you chose only when you switch languages in the selector 1 year
Session (__Host-…) keeps you signed in only in the candidate, company and partner areas, after you sign in until you sign out or up to 30 days
Form protection (__Host-…) stops other sites from submitting forms on your behalf in signed-in areas and forms until you close the browser
__cf_bm (Cloudflare) tells people apart from malicious bots only when bot protection is triggered 30 minutes

All of them are necessary for what you asked for (switching language, signing in, protecting the site) and, for that reason, do not require consent. None is used for advertising.

Ad cookies

Google (AdSense) shows ads on public pages (search, job pages, the home page, the salary guide, Joonow Trends stories and the company list), never in signed-in areas, forms, the application, the help center or the legal pages. On those pages, Google may store its own cookies and identifiers (such as __gads, __gpi, __eoi and IDE) to show ads, limit how many times you see the same one, measure results and prevent fraud. They last up to 13 months and belong to Google: the up-to-date list and durations are at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

What applies to you depends on your country:

Where you are Personalized ads How to choose
Brazil and the other countries of the Americas, except the US only if you accept in the notice; without your acceptance, non-personalized ads "Ad preferences", in the footer
United States yes, until you opt out; your browser's Global Privacy Control counts as an opt-out "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information", in the footer
European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland there are no ads –

Your choice is stored in your browser (jn_ads) and can be changed at any time.

What is stored in your browser

Besides cookies, the site stores a few things in your browser itself. None of it is sent to us unless you ask, and none of it is used for advertising.

Name What for How long
jn_saved the jobs you saved on the device, without an account until you remove the job or clear the site data
jn_recent your recent searches, to suggest them next time until you clear the site data
jn_seen the "Viewed" mark on jobs you opened during this visit until you close the tab
jn_geo remembers that you asked not to see job suggestions based on your region until you clear the site data
jn_country remembers that you asked not to see the suggestion of jobs in the country you are browsing from until you clear the site data
jn_ads your choice about personalized ads until you change it or clear the site data
jn.pwa remembers whether you have seen, dismissed or installed the app until you clear the site data
jn:auth tells your open tabs that you signed in or out (only the flag, no account data) until you sign out
jn_applied, jn:savedSync with an account: the jobs you applied to and the sync of saved jobs, to mark them in the list until you sign out
jn:contact a draft of your Contact us message, so you don't lose the text until you send it or close the tab
jn:ai-auto, jn_cr_origin details of the AI search and of the careers page you came from until you close the tab
jn_kb_… in the company area: how you prefer to view the hiring process board until you clear the site data

Copies of pages and files (installed app and offline mode): the service worker stores the site's design and the last public pages you visited, so they open faster and work without internet. Signed-in pages and your account data never go into this copy.

Audience measurement

We do not currently use audience measurement tools that store anything on your device. If we ever do, we will ask for your permission first, where the law requires it, and update this page.

Browser privacy signals

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC): when it is on, we treat it as an opt-out of personalized ads in any country.

How to delete them

You can delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. In Chrome, for example: Settings › Privacy and security › Cookies and other site data. If you delete jn_lang, the site goes back to choosing the language from your browser. If you delete the session, you will need to sign in again. If you delete jn_saved, the jobs saved only on the device disappear (the ones saved to your account remain). If you delete jn_ads, the ads notice appears again.
