These terms complement the terms of use and the privacy policy and apply to anyone who reviews a company on Joonow and to the reviewed company. Joonow is operated by HERO TECNOLOGIA LTDA, CNPJ 23.073.946/0001-83, headquartered in Brazil. The Portuguese version of these terms prevails. How we moderate, step by step: How we moderate reviews.

What reviews are for

Reviews show what it is like to work at a company, told by people who work or have worked there. They help job seekers decide where to apply. For now, only companies in Brazil receive reviews.

Who can write a review

  • People who work or have worked at the company, with a Joonow account.
  • The account email must have been confirmed at least 7 days ago. Accounts with a temporary (disposable) email cannot write reviews.
  • Each person can review the same company at most once every 12 months.
  • People who manage the company page on Joonow cannot review it.
  • When sending, you declare: "I work or worked at this company and this is my own experience". We keep that declaration with the date.

What goes into a review

  • An overall rating from 1 to 5 and ratings from 1 to 5 for pay and benefits, leadership, work environment and career growth.
  • Pros and cons, from your own experience.
  • Your job title, your area, whether you work there now or used to, and the city.

Write only what you experienced and believe to be true. Serious facts (harassment, late pay) can be told as your experience, without saying who did it.

What is not allowed

  • A name, nickname or any detail that identifies another person (manager, coworker, customer), including by role when only one person holds it ("the CFO", "the owner").
  • Accusing a person of a crime or of a serious act.
  • Personal data: phone number, email, ID number, address, social media profile.
  • Name-calling, insults, threats, harassment, discrimination or hate speech.
  • Information you know to be false.
  • Trade secrets or information you agreed to keep confidential.
  • Reviews written by the company itself, by a competitor or by anyone with a conflict of interest.
  • Advertising, links, text copied from somewhere else or unrelated to working at the company.

Moderation

  • Every review is moderated before it is published. An automated system (artificial intelligence) flags possible problems, and our team decides whether to publish it. A review that accuses a person or identifies someone by their role is rejected right away, with the reason.
  • Joonow never edits reviewers' text. When something needs to change, we reject the review with the reason and you rewrite it. You see the status and the reason in "My reviews" and receive the reason by email.
  • We may reject or take down any review that breaks these terms.
  • Nothing appears before a company has 3 published reviews: no rating and no text ("reviews being collected"), so nobody can be identified.
  • At companies with up to 50 people, the review shows only your area, without the job title and without the city.
  • The review date shows only the month and year.

Anonymity and personal data

  • Reviews are published without your name and without any data from your account. The reviewed company never receives your identity.
  • The link between the review and your account is kept only for moderation, to apply these rules and to comply with the law.
  • Access records: we keep, confidentially and encrypted, the IP address, the source port and the date and time (UTC) of each submission, edit and deletion for 6 months (Brazilian Law 12,965/2014, the Marco Civil da Internet, article 15). These records and the writer's identity are only disclosed under a court order (article 22).
  • Legal hold: when there is a formal removal request, a lawsuit or a court order about a review, we keep an encrypted copy of it and of the access records, even if you delete the review or the account, until the case ends.
  • "Verified employee" badge (optional): if you confirm an email address on the company's domain, we keep only the domain and the date; the address is discarded.
  • Your job title, city and what you write may help someone guess who wrote it. Keep that in mind before sending.
  • Your reviews are included in the data export from the privacy center in your account. You can delete or rewrite a review whenever you want, and all of them are removed when you delete your account (except for the legal hold above).
  • The review text goes through an artificial intelligence service for moderation, and the provider does not keep the data. More details in the privacy policy.

For the reviewed company

  • A company that has claimed its page on Joonow can respond once to each review, in public. The response is moderated before it is published, cannot be edited later, cannot contain names, phone numbers, emails or ID numbers and cannot identify or hint at who wrote the review (role, department, leaving date, reason for dismissal, lawsuits).
  • The company requests the removal of a review from the company area, with the reason. The company cannot delete or edit reviews, does not know who wrote them and must not try to find out.
  • The company cannot offer gifts, discounts, prizes or any benefit in exchange for a review, or pressure anyone to write, change or delete a review. Asking employees for reviews is allowed, as long as there is no benefit and no pressure.
  • Any retaliation against a reviewer is forbidden and leads to the suspension of the company account.

Removal requests and the Marco Civil da Internet

  • How to request: the reviewed company, from the company area; the person mentioned or someone else, even without an account, through the removal request form (the request counts after the email is confirmed). Reasons: exposed personal data, a named or identifiable person, an accusation of a crime, the writer never worked at the company, or offensive content.
  • Deadline and defense: we decide within 5 business days after confirmation. The writer is notified by email and can rewrite the review or explain. Neither side receives the other's name or email.
  • During the review, the review only goes offline when the request is about personal data or an accusation against an identifiable person.
  • Written decision, with the grounds, to both sides. Opinions about the work experience are kept: in that case, removal requires a court order (Marco Civil da Internet, article 19). Exposed personal data, discrimination and threats are taken down when we are notified.
  • Court orders: we comply with an order that clearly identifies the content (article 19, paragraph 1): on Joonow, the address of the review.
  • We also look at reports from the "Report" button and voluntarily take down anything that is unlawful or breaks these terms.

Responsibility of the writer

The person who writes a review is solely responsible for what they wrote. Joonow does not edit the text and is not its co-author. Reviews that break these terms may be taken down, and the account may be suspended.

Transparency

Every year we publish a report with the reviews received, published and rejected, the removal requests and the court orders received. See How we moderate reviews.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When a change is important, we will announce it on the site before it takes effect.
